Banquet Hall Wedding: Mark + Candice

Waiting is a sign of true love and patience. Anyone can say I love you, but not everyone can wait and prove its true.

It started out with a text message on a cold day in March 2012. It was a Sunday evening Candice received a text message from a good friend, Tiana. . She told her that her brother saw pictures of them from a party they attended and he found her very attractive. She asked Candice if it was okay for her to give him her number and then proceeded to tell her a little bit about him. Initially Candice was hesitant but eventually agreed because the things she said about him, peaked her interest.

He called Candice the next day and they spoke for hours. After their first conversation, speaking to each other quickly became a part of their daily routine. They would spend these early conversations sharing their day, thoughts, and giving each other advice on how to resolve any issues or concerns going on in their lives.

Even though they hadn’t met face to face yet, their bond grew stronger and they finally planned to have their first date. Unknown to them, that very plan would soon be tested.

Through the earlier stages of their friendship and budding relationship, tragedy struck Mark and his family. Mark’s younger brother Shane passed away from his 3 year battle with cancer at 11 years old. During this time of pain and loss, Candice didn’t know how to be there for Mark because it was so early in their friendship. Mark explained that he understood if Candice did not want to continue building their friendship and developing relationship because at the moment, his heart was broken and there was no way he could commit to her or anyone else during his time of grief. Candice didn’t care what he said, there was no way she was leaving his side and she never did.

She was his rock during the toughest time in his life. They were there for each other to call on, anytime of the day or night. God knew what He was doing when He put these two in each others lives; there was no way they could have gotten through the tough times of life without each other and most of all God.

After months of strengthening their connection over the phone, they finally thought it was time to meet. It was a beautiful day in June, yes June, when they had their first date. Candice called her mother because she was so nervous! When they met it became crystal clear that he was the one for her and she was the one for him. They appreciated the time they spent building their relationship the way they did. It allowed them to fall in love as best friends and to build a foundation that can withstand any test.

On May 10, 2014 Mark proposed to Candice under a cherry blossom tree on their way to the river walk where they went to on their first date. The petals were falling and Candice grabbed Mark and proclaimed her love and promises of a lasting love. Candice told Mark it was his turn, and he nervously got down on one knee, saying the most beautiful words she ever heard come from him. She thought, man has he been practicing or what?! So then she asked him,”Why are your hands shaking? Okay babe, we are just playing around you taking it a bit far!”. Then he pulls out this bright, shiny beautiful ring!!!! She was in tears and smiling so hard, she almost forgot to say Yes! Mark and Candice are so excited about spending the rest of their lives with their best friend. They are thrilled to share this new journey of our lives with our family, friends and loved ones.
