When we pulled up to The Royal Crest Room, the weather alert notification went off on my phone. Terrible storms over Saint Cloud were moving our way, and we all hoped for the best. Surely these pop-up thunderstorms would miss us. Regardless everyone was calm, cool, and collected. It was David and Jasmine’s dream wedding day; all that mattered to them was that they’d be married by the end of the day. They worked hard to plan this celebration, and the R-word wouldn’t get in their way!
I reassured everyone that surely this storm would pass over quickly or entirely miss us. After all, it never thunders for hours and hours unless you’re in the midst of a hurricane! Regardless there was not a moment in the entire day that Jasmine wasn’t filling a room with joy with her huge smile. That has to be our favorite thing about Jasmine. She has the most captivating smile.
First Look
It was finally time for their first look and the Lord showed off holding back the rain. We were all giddy and excited because the moment, the weather and the breeze was perfect! Our favorite time of the day was every moment we got to spend with them because all the glistening eyes, giggles and kisses were just so sweet and adorable. It felt like we were capturing the couple from The Notebook. With every step we guided them through they just fell right into each other so perfectly.
The connection between these two is surreal! Even when we got sprinkled on and had to fast and furious our way back to the venue in golf carts before the flood gates released a downpour from heaven. The entire way back these two are laughing and just the best of sports. Their good attitude just allowed this to be another amazing memory.
The Clouds Part Just in Time
Regardless of the downpours we had throughout the day we every special moment that they had so meticulously planned and hoped for happened. As soon as it was time for their ceremony, they clouds parted, every vendor grabbed a towel and started drying chairs. Not only did the rain stop just in time for the ceremony to take place, but it also dropped the temperature by ten degrees and brought some lingering cloud-cover so that no one had to squint. They still got to have their perfect ceremony outdoors and race along the golf course with their tribe, the bridal party, as sunset led to the final downpour of the evening. What an adventurous day.
I feel like the weather on David and Jasmine’s wedding day was such a representation of life. There will be storms but the sun always comes back out again. The longer I photograph weddings, the more I fully understand the beauty of this celebration. It’s not just getting a new last name or a new title. It’s obviously not about photos (even though I think they are a TOP priority!). It’s about making a covenant to do life side by side with the person you love the most…. no matter how hard it gets.
We are so excited to see David and Jasmine start on this new adventure together as husband and wife. Their beautiful day was just a small piece of all of the beautiful adventures they will experience as husband and wife! We love this sweet family and we loved being the ones capturing the beginning of their story!! Enjoy my favorites from their beautiful wedding!
