Ever since Shenele was a little girl she had dreamt of this day! The day she would marry the man of her dreams! In her pretend play she was always the bride with her little sister by her side as the flower girl! Her sister helped her into a wedding dress numerous times in their childhood. But today. This wasn’t pretend! This was the real deal holy field! Shenele found the man that she dreamt up ever since she was a little girl. The man that she and her family had prayed for. Chris.
It was time for her to step into her dress! Her perfect wedding dress that hugged every curve the right way. It had to be as surreal for them as it was for us to watch. There, in the middle of the room, she stood with two women she admired. Two women that mean the world to her. Her mother and sister . This would be the last time that they would be helping her into a wedding dress! What a sweet moment it must have been for the women standing by her side, being present to witness all of Shenele’s dreams come true!
She was finally in her dress. Earrings on. Perfumed. She stood in the middle of the room. Waiting for the knock on the door. Waiting for the first man she ever loved. Waiting for the man that caught her every time she fell. Kissed every boo boo. Her biggest cheerleader! Her beloved father.
“Knock, Knock, Knock”
He was finally there. With his eyes closed, he stood right behind her waiting for the word to open his eyes. “OPEN!” He stood there in awe! His eyes began to water. He was looking at his baby girl. His first born. He could remember the first time he held her in his arms. The first time he swaddled her. The first time he saw her in a wedding dress when she was a little girl. There she stood now. A grown, beautiful, intelligent woman that would within a few minutes be someones wife. And we knew he was proud. Proud of the amazing daughter she’s been and proud of the woman she’s become! And he could not keep the tears in anymore. The streams began. He told her she looked beautiful and embraced her with a hug! A hug that could never be replaced. The hug of a father!
