It was another day in our house remodel. I was covered in paint and good Lord our house was a disaster. Landon had gone over to our good friend Cami and Alex’s house to help them our with some shiplap ceiling. When my phone rang with a Facetime call from Cami, I knew what it was. I knew they were going to team up on me. They were going to team up on me about the deer head that they were trying to pass along to us. Don’t get me wrong, oh I want the deer head just not in the middle of my remodel chaos.
When I answered the call, I prepared myself to be up against the peer pressure. I looked down at the screen and I saw a sonogram. Oh my word, the scream that I gave out as the flood gates of my eyes opened up. Tears of joy of course.
You see from the moment I met Cami ,her joy, smile and spunky personality convinced me that she would be such a fun mom. And then when I got to know her better and had the honor of becoming friends, I realized she wouldn’t just be a fun mom, she would be an amazing mom because she is a God fearing woman. It only took one playdate with my girls and as she sat and painted with our daughters, I could imagine her sitting there with her future daughter. Painting, smiling, making up stories and laughing with her daughter the way she was laughing with our daughters.
I don’t know if I ever shared this with Cami, but she inspired me that very moment even though she wasn’t a mom yet of the mother I want to be. I wanted to be the mom that sat and played with her kids. The mom that would nurture their imagination and be present and completely fascinated by their dreams, jokes and artistic master pieces. When you can learn from someone how to be a better mom, even when they aren’t a mom yet, you know that they are destined to be a phenomenal mommy.
Cami and Alex, you already know how much we love you guys! We hope to make Mia’s eyes sparkle with joy and excitement just like you make our girls eyes sparkle. They hear you name and they get excited! It takes a village to raise a child and we are honored to be welcomed into your village. Baby Mia, uncle Landon and auntie Stephanie are so excited to watch you grow up and come into the purpose that God has given you!
