One Hendrick Down : Sick Baby

August 27, 2018

Last night I went to bed with a plan for Monday! I was set to wake up and ready to hustle. I timed out the day to the minute. I was set to begin at 5:00am. But momma got a curveball. As I snuggled with my princess last night I felt an intense heat on my skin. I woke up to Kayla with a fever at 3:00am. Guys, we have one Hendrick down . Our little nugget is out. A sick baby is a sure way to completely flip your day upside down! It doesn’t matter that I had about 20 things on my list of things to do today. All came to a complete halt. Today I chose to put my entrepreneur hat down. My homeschooling hat down. There was only one hat I wanted to wear today. My momma hat.

One Hendrick Down : Sick Baby

The only thing you are sure to find when you see a sick baby is a worried momma. Over the last eight years I’ve perfected a care treatment for our little family when we catch a bug. Its composed of five major elements that are great individually but a magic potion when done altogether.

First things first. My immunity boosting juice! When you get a virus your body is working overtime trying to fight it off and there is a way you can help it! I’ve come up with this recipe which is baby approved so you know its delicious and it works!!! A juicer is recommended.

Juice Ingredients

1 Apple: Have you heard that saying. “An apple a day will keep the doctor away” ? Its true! Apples contain quercitin. Quercitina is a flavonoid antioxidant which has immune boosting properties. It reduces the incidence of the common cold, has anti-inflammatory properties.

1 Orange: Oranges are high in Vitamin A, Vitamin C , Folate and Copper. Vitamin A promotes the development of new white blood cells, the immune cells that circulate in your bloodstream to identify and destroy harmful pathogens. It also helps activate your white blood cells so they can fight off infection. Vitamin C , Folate and Copper help in the production of cells, especially white cells. The warriors of the body!

1 Large Carrot: Carrots contain beta carotene which help fight infection.

1 Lemon: Lemons are a superfood that provide 51% of the body’s daily Vitamin C needs as well as thiamin, riboflavin, vitamin B-6, pantothenic acid, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, copper and manganese. The Vitamin C and other antioxidants found in lemons boost immune system function and help the body fight off diseases. It also has a powerful cleansing effect on the liver by strengthening enzyme functions.

1 Mango: Mango is high in Vitamin C, vitamin A, plus 25 different kinds of carotenoids keep your immune system healthy and strong. Plus it helps bring all the flavors together and makes the drink so darn delicious.

How to Prepare

Juice the apple and carrot. Peal the orange and lemon, but leave white thick part under the peal. Slice them and juice them. Combine juices in blender with a pealed and pulped mango. Blend. Enjoy. If you have a sore throat or fever add ice to help sooth sore throat and cool down body temp.

Hendrick Chicken Noodle Soup

The next thing on the menu is some good homemade chicken noodle soup. I normally make my noodles from scratch for simplicity sake we’ll use store bought noodles. I make a large pot so that the whole family can all eat from it all day.

Ingredients Serves 16:

1 lb no yolk egg noodles

1.5 lbs of chicken breast

1.5 cups of celery

1 cup of chopped carrots

2 medium Potatoes

2 cups of green onions

6 garlic cloves

1 tablespoon of black pepper (when my girls are congested I add an extra tsp. helps them cough)

12 cups of chicken broth unsalted

1 tsp parsley

2 tablespoons of complete seasoning

Salt to taste

How to Prepare:

Cut Chicken breast into tiny dimes size pieces. Place in hot soup pot chicken, garlic and all dry ingredients. Cook on high for five minutes. Add all freshly cut vegetables EXCEPT potatoes. Cover and let cook for 10 minutes on medium-high fire. Add chicken broth. Let cook for half an hour or until carrots are tender. Add potatoes. Cook until potatoes are tender. Final step is to add the no yolk egg noodles and let cook on medium uncovered for 10 minutes.

The next two things are my favorite. They require the least bit of work and are so good for the soul. Cuddles and a sweet little prayer for my nugget. That with plenty of fluids and some good old Netflix binge and she’ll be back up and giving me a run for my money and making a mess all over the house!

Happy Monday!
